Jessica Seigel's award-winning reports, commentaries, and analysis on the fads and fables of contemporary life have appeared in The New York Times, National Public Radio, The Los Angeles Times, National Geographic Traveler, Reader's Digest, Salon, Village Voice, and The Washington Post. Featured on Good Morning America, Fox TV, and Inside Edition her work on media and women's issues was recognized with the prestigious Front Page Award for a Lifetime Magazine investigation of the breast and the bra. She also won the National Society of Journalists and Authors "Outstanding Article" prize for a Los Angeles Magazine exposé of diet fraud. A regular speaker for university and think tank panels, she has been cited in many books, like Alan Dershowitz's bestseller Reasonable Doubts, and anthologized in the pop culture volumes Reading Desperate Housewives (I.B.Taurus, 2006) and Women's Voices, Feminist Visions (McGraw Hill, 2005). During eight years as a national correspondent and feature writer with the Chicago Tribune, she covered Hollywood and major national stories like the O.J. Simpson trial from Los Angeles, commenting daily on television from the courthouse. She also worked as Buzz Magazine Contributing Editor and Brill’s Content Senior Writer, exploring media, celebrity, and the Internet from both coasts. A Spanish and French speaker, Seigel has reported from Spain, France, Mexico, and the Bronx in both languages. A print and web consultant for clients including Folio, Archaeology, Merrill Lynch, and the Downtown Alliance, she teaches graduate and undergraduate journalism at New York University and holds a masters degree from the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism.
